About the Role

 

The Technical Specialist, Radio Systems is a key and active participant of the Operational Telecommunications Systems team within the Emergency Communications Information Services (ECIS) Department. 

 

The Technical Specialist role supports all technical matters for the radio-based network systems and the devices that support these systems, i.e. radio terminals, which include the Managed Device Service (MDS), Metropolitan Mobile Radio (MMR) and Regional Mobile Radio (RMR) services through vendor and technical stakeholder management for radio systems technical matters within the ECIS portfolio.

 

This position provides specialised technical advice to the Manager, Radio Systems ensuring the operation of the MDS, MMR and RMR services in a mission critical environment for Victoria’s law enforcement and public safety organisations.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

  •   Provide comprehensive advice and support for the design, performance, and maintenance of all operational telecommunications systems.
  •   Collaborate with the Manager, Radio Systems to implement state and provider requests, carefully evaluating risks and impacts throughout the change lifecycle
  •   Foster strong relationships with State and Service Providers by delivering high-level technical advice and ensuring superior service delivery on behalf of Triple Zero Victoria.
  •   Research complex coverage and capacity issues while identifying, resolving, and reporting on emerging risks and network trends.
  •   Lead the development and execution of robust test plans in collaboration with the testing team, ensuring all requirements are validated and issues are resolved through to final acceptance.

 

About You

 

 

The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and attributes:

  •   Tertiary qualifications in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience (desirable)
  •   Minimum five years’ experience in the Emergency Services Sector – Operational Communications environment
  •   Substantial knowledge of P25 Radio Systems
  •   Detailed knowledge of information technology networking and application fundamentals
  •   Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
