Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state’s emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria’s 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role

The Systems Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure is a key and active participant of the Emergency Communication Information Services (ECIS) team and is a key subject matter expert in designing, deploying, managing, and supporting scalable Cloud infrastructure and solutions. This role works closely with architecture, operations, and security teams to ensure the reliability, performance, availability and security of cloud-based infrastructure, services and platforms. The role requires a deep technical subject matter expertise and knowledge of Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation.

This role will work as a hands-on engineer as part of a team and with deep technical expertise in Cloud and on-premise Data Centre infrastructure environments to build, maintain and support scalable infrastructure and platforms across a hybrid-cloud architecture and Cloud environment in Microsoft Azure. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate high technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. 

This role requires an experienced Cloud Engineer with an innovative mindset, as well as a keen eye for detail and quality in the resiliency, performance, availability and security of Cloud and on-premise, systems engineering and delivery practices. This role offers an excellent career opportunity for individuals with a background in Microsoft system-focused engineering and experience in delivering collaborative solutions supporting a mission critical 24/7 emergency services environment.

As part of TZV’s ECIS team you may be required to travel or transfer between your primary work location and other TZV sites to effectively carry out your duties. Normal working hours are 38 hours per week between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday with a minimum 3 days on site requirement. You will be required to participate in an on-call roster and may be required to work reasonable overtime.

Day to day responsibilities include:

• Building and operating secure, scalable and highly available Cloud infrastructure solutions, including hybrid-cloud solutions
• Automation of the build, configuration and management of Cloud environments and infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools and automation platforms
• Operating, monitoring and maintenance of Cloud environments an infrastructure whilst effectively operating and maintaining a highly available environment
• Identification and remediation of any performance, availability or security risks within Cloud and Data Centre infrastructure environments
• Performance optimisation of Cloud resources, including Azure Cloud workload performance
• Operating and maintenance of TZV’s M365 environment, including leading he proactive and continuous improvement of environment management, backups, security and performance optimisation
• Working closely and collaborating with Architecture, Security and ECIS teams, to ensure compliance with best practice standards in Cloud and infrastructure services and design
• Working closely with the existing Infrastructure Team, and be actively involved with the operation, maintenance and support of TZV's critical infrastructure environments, both on-prem and cloud, and be included on the Infrastructure SME on-call roster to support 24/7 business operations

About You

The successful candidate for this role will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

• A Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline
• Cloud certifications; Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Cloud Associate level certifications minimum
• Microsoft Certifications; MCSA or M365 Administration
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Cloud operations and engineering 
• Extensive experience in operations of Azure Cloud and on-premise Microsoft environments
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with capacity to assess and resolve technical issues and initiate improvements 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and break down complex concepts to all levels of the business
