• Leadership opportunity, working on TZV’s Next Gen CAD technology transformation project
• Build a new automated standard operating environment for TZV’s Call-takers and Dispatchers
• Two-year fixed-term contract, full-time hybrid role, based in Burwood East
About Triple Zero Victoria
Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state’s emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria’s 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.
This integration of emergency services communications within Triple Zero Victoria is unique in Australia and rare worldwide. The team at Triple Zero Victoria is deeply committed to the community it serves and is among the most dedicated and highly skills in its field.
About the Role
The Software and End User Device Lead is an active participant within the Next Generation CAD program (NGC).
The goal of the function is to specify, build and test the end user devices appropriate for the call takers and dispatchers. With the deployment of the Next Generation CAD software, TZV are taking the opportunity to uplift the Call Takers and Dispatchers experience. While NGC will deliver a highly functional software experience, the accompanying technology experience is as critical.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Delivery, specific responsibilities will include the establishment of a program to specify, build, test and deploy a new workstation hardware for the Call Takers and Dispatchers. This will require understanding the technology requirements, options, and selecting an appropriate specification to meet the workstation (laptop and monitor) needs. In addition, the role will need to develop a new SOE based on the requirements, ensuring it is fit for purpose. The role will then program the procurement, build and roll-out of the workstations across three sites or SECC’s. There are approximately 600-700 workstations to be replaced.
The design and build of the SOE must be an automated process, and highly efficient. TZV currently utilise Microsoft InTune software, and the successful candidate is expected to be highly efficient in this technology.
The transition to deploy the hardware is over a 6–9-month period and will be determined dependent on such factors as the Service Lines (Police, Ambulance, Fire), geography (Ballarat, Burwood East and Williams Landing), or Call Takers and Dispatchers. A specific transition methodology may be a combination of these factors.
As part of this role, the Software and End User Device Lead will need to engage with Call Takers and Dispatchers, vendors, procurement specialists, in-house legal counsel, and the BAU Service Desk team.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Establishment and management of the project to specify, build, test and deploy new workstations for our operational workforce (Call-takers and Dispatchers)
- Gather requirements and undertake options analysis for the purpose of identifying the best possible hardware technology experience.
- Engage and collaborate with various internal business units to understand their requirements and the user experience.
- Interact with User Experience (UX) specialists about the functional design.
- Fostering a positive and productive working environment for the small team of end-user computer engineers reporting into this role.
- Engaging with the BAU Service Desk team in the process.
About You
The successful candidate will have a Diploma/Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or related, and/or substantial experience in technology, as well as the following skills and experience -
- Demonstrable experience in the specification, configuration and roll-out of a large-scale deployment of new end-user Microsoft devices.
- Demonstrable experience in Project Management as applied to the definition, establishment, delivery and tracking of an end user device deployment.
