Triple Zero Victoria (000VIC) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state’s emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria’s 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role

 

The Senior Manager, Emergency Management leads the formation of enterprise-wide resilience and emergency response management services, with a strong focus on business continuity. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Emergency Management and Operational Support, this role will set new benchmarks that reflect leading emergency management practice, to ensure and measure emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

 

As a leading expert in this field, this role works closely with internal and external stakeholders including Emergency Service Organisations, State and industry forums.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

 

  • Directly influence the delivery of emergency management planning enusring alignment with organisational strategy, including the development of ECS knowledge assets, ensuring currency and a contemporary approach
  • Identify best practices in Emergency Planning and Management and Business Continuity, and design and implement preparedness, response and recovery strategies that deliver successful and high performing continuous operation of 000VIC services
  • Develop strategies and interoperability between stakeholders by developing and driving high-performance Emergency Planning, and collaboratively drive the uplift 000VIC’s business resilience capability maturity rating
  • Accountable and responsible for redundancy arrangements across the three State Emergency Communications Centres and operational Critical Incident Response Plan (CIRP).

 

 

About You

 

Your qualifications in emergency management or a related discipline, or substantial experience in managing operational business continuity, will lead to success in this role, coupled with experience in a service delivery environment which may include emergency services, emergency planning or incident management. You will further demonstrate the following to be suitable in this role:

 

  • Experience in relationship building, influencing, and negotiating skills in managing incidents and complex resilience and business continuity matters
  • Be a strong people leader with demonstrated broad leadership capability, be a team builder and innovator with the ability to build, drive and reinforce the development of people, new service, and capabilities in an Emergency Planning scope
  • Experience managing competing priorities to align change objectives that meet community, emergency services, and workforce expectations
  • Ability to identify and define business needs in a clear way to internal and external service providers to ensure accountability for the effective operation of a service
  • An understanding of emergency services, communications centres, emergency management, telecommunications, employee relations and relevant Government Policy are ideal.
