Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state’s emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria’s 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role
The Senior Advisor, Health & Safety is a key and active member of the Workplace Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, supporting the business to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and environment. With a strong risk-based focus, the role works to strengthen safety culture across the organisation and build leaders’ capability to effectively manage safety responsibilities and business risks.
This position is suited to a credible, practical and resilient professional who can confidently navigate both systems and the complexities of operational environments. A key focus of the role is the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of TZV’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) system, while driving improvements in both physical and psychosocial health and safety outcomes across the organisation.
Day to day responsibilities include:
- Review, develop and maintain TZV’s health & safety management system against ISO 45001 to identify priority areas for improvement and implement sustainable improvements at an organisational and local level.
- Develop and implement a range of targeted, innovative and contemporary initiatives, policies, procedures and projects related to health, safety and injury prevention for TZV’s employees, visitors and contractors.
- Partner with management and employees to undertake a HSW training needs analysis and assist with establishing streamlined OHS induction and training programs for internal emergency management roles, including HSRs, Wardens and First Aiders.
- Provide expert advice and support to internal employees on a variety of mediums and forums, including systems, projects, training, HSW Committees, Emergency Preparedness Committee, and various working groups as required.
- Identify, assess, provide expert advice, monitor and review interacting psychosocial and physical hazards that may affect TZV’s operations and implement effective and practical interventions to monitor and manage risk.
- Influence measurable health and safety outcomes and support managers with complex psychosocial and physical incident investigations and risks assessments.
- Manage and update OHS programs, policies and procedures, including designing tools, guidance and training for leaders and HSRs.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of performance data (lead and lag indicators), trends and survey findings to enable monitoring and continuous improvement of HSW programs and initiatives.
- Provide advice, assistance and coaching to team members within People & Culture in the areas of psychosocial and physical risk management, policy and legislative interpretation and application.
About You
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated ability and understanding of health and safety and employee wellbeing issues confronting a large and diverse organisation.
They will also demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:
- Contemporary knowledge and skills in risk management including experience using risk assessment and incident investigation tools such as Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM), or similar
- Demonstrated understanding of current OHS legislation.
- Proven ability to manage projects to achieve high quality and effective outcomes.
- Experience in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of a safety management system.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and manage health and safety information management systems, including a hazard and incident reporting system.
- Coordination of the annual Influenza Vaccination program.
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills, including proven ability to negotiate a solution to a problem with multiple parties including unions.
- A Diploma/Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline with extensive OHS experience.
- Current drivers licence.
