About the Role

 

The Manager Health & Safety is a key and active participant of the Workforce Health, Safety & Wellbeing team. 


The goal of the function is to manage the physical, biological, chemical and psychological hazards within the organisation to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and environment. 


The Manager Health & Safety role will focus on working toward continuous improvement of our safety culture and build capability in our leaders.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

 

• Lead the team to continually develop, maintain review, and enhance TZV’s health & safety management system against ISO 45001, ensuring priorities are identified for improvement and sustainable improvements implemented at an organisational and local level.
• Develop strategies to promote, implement and embed a proactive safety culture, where everyone takes responsibility for health and safety. 
• Support the Senior Manager, Workforce Health, Safety & Wellbeing with the development of 000VIC’s corporate Workforce Health, Safety & Wellbeing Plan, overseeing its communication and implementation across the organisation. 
• Responsible for compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure comprehensive safety records are maintained in accordance with legislation and best practice.
• Recommend solutions to senior management and the executive leadership team on priority focus areas, issues, improvement opportunities and new prevention measures. 

 

 

About You

 

As the Manager, Health and Safety you will ideally have a tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety as well as demonstrated experience in leading an OHS function and a team of experts. 

 

• Demonstrated understanding of health, safety and wellbeing compliance in a large and diverse organisation. 
• Contemporary knowledge and skills in risk management including experience using risk assessment and incident investigation tools such as Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM).
• Well developed stakeholder skills with demonstrated empathy dealing with highly complex situations and individuals 
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and manage health and safety information management systems. 
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse client group, including preparation of concise board level papers and written reports, and the development and implementation of new policy and procedures
