Triple Zero Victoria (TZV) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state’s emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria’s 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role

 

The GIS Specialist is a key and active participant of the Emergency Communications Information Services (ECIS) team. 

 

The goal of the function is to provide delivery of all end-to-end GIS functions including GIS data management, mapping and analysis activities.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Mapping and Data, specific accountabilities will include administration of spatial data to ensure currency and accuracy of data sets, troubleshooting and support for incidents and requests.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify data requirements and oversee the integration of business-critical information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Uphold rigorous standards for geospatial integrity, ensuring all spatial datasets remain precise, current, and reliable for operational use.
  • Execute spaciial data updates and modifications in strict alignment with established protocols and defined service level agreement (SLA's).
  • Optimise the spacial database infrastructure by proactively monitoring performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing effective resolutions.
  • Develop and manage spatial information assets to consistently meet the organisation's evolving mapping and data visualisation needs.

 

 

About You

 

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  •   A Diploma/Tertiary qualification in Geospatial Info Tech, Computer Science or related discipline (essential).

 

Desirable:

  • Python
  • C#
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies/associations such as ESRI
  • ITIL V3 Certificate

 

Skills and experience (essential):

  • Extensive/Demonstrable experience in SQL scripting and computer programming and demonstrated knowledge with SQL Server and/or Oracle
  • Extensive/Demonstrable experience with ESRI suite of products
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
