About the Role

 

The Financial Systems Accountant is a key and active participant of the Finance and Corporate Services (F&CS) department. Reporting to the Asset Accountant, the goal of the function is to administer the finance systems, including providing end-user support to other business areas. This role will drive the integrity of financial data in the finance systems, and preserve the integrity of financial data and systems, ensuring transactions comply with financial policies and procedures. This role will also provide financial accounting support where required. 

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

 

  • Perform periodic review of financial system data to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, inclusive of purchase orders, requisitions, vendor master file, employee reimbursements and bank access.
  • Assist with providing information for annual financial statements, internal and external requirement
  • Support with preparation of taxation and insurance requirements.
  • Assist with review of general ledger transactions, month/year end accraul journals and balance sheet reconsilitations.
  • Where required monitor and perform data uploads and integrations into finance systems from other business systems.
     

 

 

 

About You

 

The preferred candidate will have experience in accounting and finance in a medium to large complex organisation within the public sector a have the following skills and experience:

 

  •  Diploma/Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance.
  •  An aptitude for problem solving in the context of accounting and financial compliance.
  • Demonstrable ability and understanding of accounting concepts and accounting standard.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advance Microsoft Office suite competency, particularly with regards to Excel.
