About the Role

 

The Financial Accountant is a key role in the Finance team.

 

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Lead, the goal of the function is to provide accounting support to the program and project management team, taxation compliance and timely completion of TZV’s financial results ready for submission. 

 

The main purpose of the role is to provide support in delivering TZV’s accounting obligations in a timely manner, whilst complying with organisational policies and procedures and legislative requirements.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:

 

  • Provide accounting support services for Program and Project Managers and other business units as required.
  • Responsible for the processing of project accounting transactions and administration and integrity of project accounting financial data. Work in collaboration with the Asset Accountant to ensure the correct capitalisation of project costs.
  • Responsible for the month and year end accrual journals, balance sheet accounts reconciliations, preparation and submission of the DTF SRIMS requirements.
  • Assist the Manager, Financial and Project Accounting with the accurate and timely completion of the annual financial report, internal and external audits and financial system testing and implementation.
  • Prepare the tax returns (including FBT and BAS) and ensure TZV’s tax compliance obligations are met. Provide support and advice on matters related to taxation compliance. 

 

 

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in accounting and/or finance in a medium to large and complex organisation, along with the following:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting and/or finance.
  • Demonstrable ability and understanding of accounting concepts and accounting standards.
  • An aptitude for problem solving in the context of accounting and financial compliance.
  • Intermediate to advance Microsoft Office suite competency, particularly with regards to Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and GP WorkPlace or other similar financial and procure-to-pay systems.
